Our History.  KALA Health, Inc. was founded in 1997 as a manufacturer and distributor of natural health products by Dr. Ronald Breteler, President and owner, who worked in the natural food industry since 1980. Born and educated in the Netherlands and the US, Dr. Breteler spent the first twelve years of his career conducting research in four continents and publishing over 50 scientific research papers. Watching his beloved German Shepherd, Sadie, becoming older and showing increasing signs of arthritis, Ron began researching products to help aging dogs better copy with advancing age. Working closely with Dr. Poovaiah, a biochemist and expert on natural anti-inflammatory products, and Phil Brown, DVM, a veterinarian and expert on Ester C, Ron developed Arthrix for Dogs and Cats, the first in a line of products for aging animals. Arthrix quickly became a top seller, and still ranks number one among pet supplement sales in Singapore and Latvia, as well as being one of the leading natural pet products for aging dogs in the US.

Encouraged by the success of Arthrix, and working closely with Keith Hensley, one of the country's top pet products formulators, Dr. Breteler started out developed a wide range of unique products to meet the growing demands of pet owners looking for alternative solutions to common pet problems.

In 2004, KALA Health acquired Landco Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of the Comfort and GoldVet line of products, a leading brand in the pet industry since 1975, thus greatly expanding the KALA Health line of products. The manufacture and distribution of pet supplements quickly became the leading business of KALA Health, providing approx. 80% of its revenues by 2005. Currently the well-known Comfort, GoldVet product lines, as well as the Arthrix, Arthrix Plus, Dermatrix, Vitalmix, Fortrix and Calmix brand names are used by, and sold through thousands of veterinarians, pet clinics, pet stores and animal product mail-order companies worldwide.

During the past ten years, our reputation as a quality manufacturer of dietary supplements for pets has lead to the request by several leading pet product distributors in the US and abroad to produce their private labels.  This program significantly expanded our distribution network, while at the same time allowing other companies in the pet industry to produce safe and healthy products with the KALA Health quality and standards. We are devoted to continually look for novel and beneficial ingredients, formulations and products to foster and promote maximum pet health.

With our dedication to quality, selective use of only the highest quality ingredients and proven track record of beneficial product, KALA Health will continue to grow. Our Organization.  KALA Health, Inc. is a virtual company, directly or indirectly employing a staff of some 30 professionals. Each key member of the KALA Health Team has built a reputation of excellence. Product manufacturing takes place in accordance with the cGMP regulations mandated by the Food and Drug Administration.

In addition to online sales through www.kalahealth.com , www.arthrix.com , www.petstore-online.com, and www.msmpure.com and the Idaho wholesale branch (formerly Landco Corporation), international product and ingredient sales take place through KALA Health International BV. KALA International is our European distribution company located in The Hague, The Netherlands.  The European online sales venue is www.kalahealthinternational.com. Other international distribution centers are located in Singapore, Latvia (distributing in Eastern European countries), Australia (www.kalahealthaustralia.com), Trinidad and Japan (www.kalahealthjapan.com).
